About

Mykopanel is a research and development studio specializing in the design and fabrication of mycelium-based composite panels for use in architecture and construction.

Fungal mycelium is the root-like structure of fungi that grows on lignocellulosic substrates by breaking them down. Our mycelium-based composites contain lignocellulosic waste products from local agricultural industries, a fitting substrate that the mycelium can degrade and bind together. The end products showcase very good properties regarding the construction industry, and especially on the aspects of  interior acoustics, thermal insulation and fireproofing. The above is tied together by locally sourced raw materials, cold-compostability, non toxic materiality and fast growth rates of our composites, placing them within the realm of circular economy.

We employ interdisciplinary design methods spanning from physics simulations and mechanical testing of our products, along with digital design tools, providing you with aesthetically customizable, scalable, efficacious and natural solutions for interior spaces.
